Profile:
Josh “Richter” Ackley began playing ultimate with Colorado Mamabird in 2001. By 2003, his performance and drive to win was nearly unstoppable as he helped Mamabird to a semifinals appearance after what was supposed to be a rebuilding year. In 2004, Ackley took Mamabird to their first national title. Ackley’s college career highlights include one national championship, two 2nd place finishes and a semifinals finish. Ackley earned Southwest All-Region awards in 2003, 2004 and 2005 and he was voted as the Callahan winner by his peers in 2004. Ackley started playing for Bravo in 2003. Since then, Ackley has done it all. He’s played on both the offensive and defensive lines where needed, and he stepped into a leadership role as the captain. He’s helped Bravo to two semifinals appearances and a finals appearance in 2007. Now in his 9th season, Ackley leads Bravo’s defensive line as a clutch handler. He’ll also be representing the United States in the world beach ultimate championship in Italy.
